Seun Anikulapo Kuti Biography- Early Life
Oluseun Anikulapo Kuti, born on January 11, 1983 in Lagos, Nigeria, is the youngest son of the late singer Fela Kuti, who is considered his anointed successor.
He is also the grandson of Funmilayo Ransome Kuti, a political campaigner, women’s rights activist, and the first woman to drive a car in Nigeria.
Seun’s mother is Fehintola Anikulapo Kuti, one of Fela’s ex-wives, and they were married from 1978 to 1986.

Seun attended the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and, at the age of 19, went to England to study popular music and sound technology, following in his father’s footsteps.

Seun developed a passion for music when he was just 5 years old.
By the time he turned 9, he expressed his love for music to his father and requested to sing alongside him. His father then welcomed him into his band, Egypt 80.
It was during his time in the band that Seun began to showcase his musical talent and mastery of the sax.
Seun was 14 years old, when his father, Fela, passed away.
Suddenly, the responsibility of managing the band fell upon young Seun, as his older brother, Femi Kuti, declined the role.
Seun bravely took charge, leading the band and embarking on tours around the world.
In 2008, the Nigerian musician Seun released his first album called “Many Things,” which received positive reviews.
In 2010, he collaborated with Calle 13 on their song “Todo se Mueve” from the album “Entren Los Que Quieran.”
Currently, Seun is signed to The Knitting Factory record label and continues to collaborate with producers who previously worked with his father.
Marriage- Wife and Child
Seun Kuti is married to chef Yetunde George Ademiluyi.
In 2020, they celebrated their 15th anniversary as friends, and his wife gave him a PS5 as an anniversary gift.
They had their first child, Ifafunmike Adara Anikulapo-Kuti, on December 16th, 2013.
In a Facebook post in 2013, the Nigerian singer publicly declared himself as a complete atheist, stating that he did not follow any “imported religion.”
“The only religion in Africa with a unified doctrine is the Traditional African Religion, yet it is evil. The imported religion does not even accept among themselves what their god says to do or doesn’t do, and they’re the good guys. I am happy I am an atheist.”
Seun Kuti appeared in court on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, accused of assaulting a police officer.
This came after a video surfaced online over the weekend, showing Seun in a heated exchange with an unarmed policeman on a busy Lagos highway.
In a tweet, Seun Kuti claimed that the officer had attempted to harm him and his family, although he did not provide specific details about the alleged incident.
The Nigerian police filed a case against Seun, seeking a 21-day detention period. However, Seun Kuti’s lawyer, Femi Falana, stated that the court granted the police 48 hours to secure his bail.
