1. Boston Celtics – 17 championships

The Boston Celtics, which is based in Boston (Massachusetts), is the NBA team with the most championships. The Celtics have won a total of 17 titles throughout their history as a team. Most of their titles were gotten between 1959 and 1966, winning 8 consecutive championships at a roll. The titles obtained were in the following seasons: 2007-08, 1985-86, 1983-84, 1980-81, 1975-76, 1973-74, 1968-69, 1967-68, 1965-66, 1964-65, 1963 -64, 1962-63, 1961-62, 1960-61, 1959-60, 1958-59 and 1956-57.
2. Los Angeles Lakers – 16 championships

Another one on our list of the NBA teams with the most championships is the Los Angeles Lakers, based in Los Angeles (California), have won a total of 16 championships, being the second team with the most NBA titles. Five of these titles got them with the name of Minneapolis Lakers. The titles were obtained in the years: 2009-10, 2008-09, 2001-02, 2000-01, 1999-00, 1987-88, 1986-87, 1984-85, 1981-82, 1979-80, 1971- 72 (as Los Angeles Lakers) 1953-54, 1952-53, 1951-52, 1949-50 and 1948-49 (as Minneapolis Lakers).
3. Chicago Bulls – 6 championships

The Chicago Bulls, based in Chicago (Illinois), have won a total of 6 titles throughout their history, most of the trophy was won during the 1990s. The titles obtained were in: 1997-98, 1996-97, 1995 -96, 1992-93, 1991-92 and 1990-91.
4. Golden State Warriors – 6 championships

The Golden State Warriors, based in Oakland, California also made it on our list of the NBA teams with the most championships, having won a total of 6 championships. Two of these five titles were gotten when under the name of Philadelphia Warriors. These championships were achieved in the following seasons: 2017-2018, 2016-17, 2014-15, 1974-75 (as Golden State Warriors) 1955-56 and 1946-47 (as Philadelphia Warriors).
5. San Antonio Spurs – 5 championships

The San Antonio Spurs, based in San Antonio (Texas), have won a total of 5 titles throughout their history, most of them during the 21st century. The championships got them in the seasons: 2013-14, 2006-07, 2004-05, 2002-03 and 1998-99.
6. Detroit Pistons – 3 championships

The Detroit Pistons, based in Auburn Hills (Detroit Metropolitan Area, Michigan), have won three championships throughout their history. These championships were achieved in the seasons 2003-04, 1989-90 and 1988-89.
7. Miami Heat – 3 championships

The Miami Heat, based in Miami (Florida), have won three championships throughout their history. These three titles were obtained in the years 2012-13, 2011-12 and 2005-06.
8. Philadelphia 76ers – 3 championships

The Philadelphia 76ers, based in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), have won, like the Detroit Pistons and the Miami Heat, three titles in their history. One of these two titles was obtained with the name of Syracuse Nationals. The three championships got them in the years 1982-83, 1966-67 (as Philadelphia 76ers) and 1954-55 (as Syracuse Nationals).
9. Houston Rockets – 2 championships

The Houston Rockets, based in Houston (Texas), have won a total of two championships during their history, specifically in the 1994-95 and 1993-94 seasons.
10. New York Knicks – 2 championships

And finally, The New York Knicks, based in New York, have won two titles throughout their history, as have the Houston Rockets. The titles were won in the 1972-73 and 1969-70 seasons.
